About Me

Having come from a family of physicians, I have always had a passion for medicine.  I believe focusing on diagnostics and appropriate therapies is the key to offering the patient the best possible treatment under my care. I am a passionate teacher and strive to stay current in my knowledge of medicine and the latest advances.

I earned my medical degree at the University of Bombay and served as university faculty in internal medicine at the University of Pittsburg Medical Center. I am an assistant professor of medicine at Temple University and am presently a physician with Northern Valley Primary Care.

I am a board-certified internist who joined St. Luke’s University Health Network in 2012. I am an academic physician who has been in practice for the last 27 years. I specialize in the comprehensive care of patients in both outpatient and inpatient settings. I am responsible for coordinating their comprehensive clinical care and management. I am also interested in quality initiatives, practice management, improving patient quality of care and clinical outcomes. In addition I am focused on the education of future healthcare professionals as I have an active role in teaching both medical students and residents.

Normally I see Dr. Thorkildsen. He was was not available. Was lucky enough that Dr Agarwala had an opening In her schedule to see me. She was great. She listened to what I had to say and Is very relatable. She read my St. Luke's file and Medical files that I brought with me from Florida. Scheduled blood work and a referral with a hematologist for me. Wonderful experience.

When I initially called I was told there were no appointments available for 1 week and I would have to go to an urgent care facility. Fortunately one of the office people that I have known from the office recognized my name and called me back. I told her my situation and she said she would make a few calls and call me back. Within 30 minutes she called and told me they could fit me in. It is important to me that there are people who still care and go out of their way to take care of patients. It is becoming more difficult to find trust in the system when large corporations take the personal connection out of the equation. You as a corporation are making the health care system very impersonal and I understand why there is a shortage of help. I am thankful for the staff at Northern Valley for continuing to be the best at providing patient care. Let them do their job!!
