About Me

I take pride in being well-versed in the most up-to-date techniques and advances within the field of minimally invasive surgery, and I offer laparoscopic, robotic, and endoscopic options. My goal is to create an evidenced-based, individualized treatment plan for each of my patients.

I am a minimally invasive general surgeon who specializes in treating diseases of the stomach and esophagus, gallbladder, appendix, small intestine and colon. This includes GERD (heartburn), hiatal hernias and esophageal motility disorders. Additionally, I treat both simple and complex hernias.

I received my medical degree from Jefferson Medical College and completed my general surgery residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. I then completed a fellowship in advanced GI and minimally invasive and bariatric surgery at Stony Brook University Hospital before joining St. Luke’s. I am a board-certified general surgeon and an active member of SAGES (Society for American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons) and the American College of Surgeons.

Outside of my clinical practice, I have an interest in teaching medical students and residents as well as conducting research dealing with minimally invasive surgical techniques.

Personally, I enjoy running, cooking and playing golf, as well as exploring the Lehigh Valley with my wonderful wife Meredith Harrison (a thoracic surgeon at St. Luke’s) and our young son.

Dr Brown was recommended by my PCP. I appreciate both Dr's time and that both of them are concerned about my total health not just the issue that I am seeing them for. We are an entire person/ body. It doesn't seem that is always recognized by some of the individual specialists. I feel fortunate to have Dr Brown on my care team. And I feel St Luke's is fortunate to have both Dr Brown & my pcp. I appreciate they are working in tandem for the best care for me.

Dr Brown was kind, approachable, and addressed my concerns. The office staff was great! Even Dr. Cipolla stopped in my exam room to say hi. I was taken back almost immediately (and I was 15 minutes early!) and was walking back out only a little after my actual appointment time. It was a simple post op visit after a lap choley, so the appointment was about as quick as I had hope!

Though St Lukes has many Doctors that are good and competent in most cases, they also have some Doctor's that are of a much higher caliber. Dr. Brown and a couple of others rank In the Higher Caliber Group. I will always be grateful to God for Dr. Brown and the others that go way above their duties and responsibilities to make patients like me get better in many ways that are not written in books.

Excellent medical care, plain, easy to understand step by step explanation of the medical procedure, it was obvious doctor Brown had read my entire medical file.As for the procedure, could not be happier, doctor on time to procedure, all support staff ready to go at the time of procedure and procedure went exactly as Doctor Brown explain it to me. All and all. Exellent care.Good job St luke !!! This provider was outstanding .
