About Me

For the most of my nursing career, I was specialty focused on the care of patients within the hospital setting. I rendered services to a wide variety of patients in the general medical and surgical domain. However, over the years, I developed a particular interest and experience in clients with oncologic needs, including those involving the genitourinary tract. As a result, I gained broad knowledge providing care to patients undergoing chemotherapy, biotherapy, radiation and surgical treatments for cancer. Later, I would devote several years to critically ill clients in the intensive care unit. As a physician extender, I am perfectly suited to facilitate care for our pre- and post-surgical inpatients, in addition to providing hospital-based urologic consultation.

I obtained my first nursing degree, Associate of Applied Science in Nursing, at the City University of New York (CUNY)/Borough of Manhattan Community College in 1996. Upon relocation to Pennsylvania, I acquired a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from East Stroudsburg University in 2007 with subsequent enrollment in Drexel University’s Master of Science in nursing (MSN) program. I completed this curriculum with honors and successfully obtained specialty certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner in 2012. I am currently pursuing the Doctor of Nursing Practice degree at Wilkes University.

My other passions include fostering nursing education and promoting a culturally diverse health care work force. I am fluent bilingual/Native speaker in English--Spanish. I have served as clinical faculty with Northampton Community College and DeSales University, providing both clinical and didactic nursing instruction. I am an active member of the American Nurses Association, PA Coalition of Nurse Practitioners and the Americal Urologic Association. I have 3 grown children: 2 daughters and a son. Some of my favorite things are nature walks, bird watching and dogs.
