After 37 years, I can appreciate the many technological advances in the practice of Radiation Oncology since I started in 1981.
New treatment planning systems allows us to deliver radiation therapy with ever more precision to tumor sites which translates to better survival outcome and much better therapeutic ratio. What has not changed is our interaction with our patients. The same attention and detail in hearing and helping them overcome their concerns and complaints remain the gold standard. We are fortunate in this day and age that we can team up with other disciplines who are specialized in taking care of patient’s socio- economic, psycho-somatic and cancer pain problems.
I earned my medical degree from the Cebu Institute of Medicine, completed an internship at Perpetual Succour Hospital, a residency at Albert Einstein Medical Center and a fellow ship at Government Hospital.
