About Me

Welcome to St. Luke’s Center for Urology! I am passionate about getting to know my patients. My patient care philosophy is to provide an individualized approach, by offering the most advanced high quality medical and surgical options tailored to each patient’s needs.

My particular areas of expertise are urologic oncology (kidney, prostate and bladder cancer), complex kidney stone disease and voiding dysfunction in men (BPH, or enlarged prostate). I am highly trained and experienced in minimally invasive urologic surgery including robotics, laparoscopy and advanced endoscopy. I also specialize in minimally invasive outpatient treatment for BPH (enlarged prostate). I have been certified as one of Pennsylvania’s first Center of Excellence physicians for the UroLift procedure.

I completed my urologic training at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, where I was trained by some of the leaders in our field. I also completed a research fellowship in endourology (minimally invasive surgery and surgery for kidney stones). Prior to that, I completed the combined MD and PhD program at Temple University in Philadelphia, earning a PhD in molecular biology and cancer research. I have advanced training in robotic surgery, molecular biology of cancer, patient safety and quality improvement. My doctoral research was funded by the American Medical Association and the Pennsylvania Department of Health, and I have published over 20 peer-reviewed articles and textbook chapters.

Since joining St Luke’s Center for Urology in 2015, I have worked to improve our Network’s protocol for prostate cancer screening by creating an evidence-based clinical protocol through outreach and education with primary care physicians. I have also expanded our surgical services at the Anderson and Monroe campuses, having performed the first laparoscopic nephrectomy and percutaneous renal surgeries at the Anderson site. In addition, I have worked to improve our ability to diagnose prostate cancer by helping to establish a multiparametric MRI program.

I am also proud to consider myself a family man.  I enjoy spending time with my wife and three children.
