About Me

Dr. Olenchock serves as  Chief of Cardiovascular Surgery  for St. Luke's University Health Network and Clinical Associate Professor of Surgery, Temple Medical School. 

Since assuming the position of Chief of Cardiovascular Surgery in 2008, Dr. Olenchock has focused his program on innovation and quality.  The program has been recognized by the Society of Thoracic Surgeons as a 3-star program for quality and has received Thomson Reuters 50 top Cardiovascular hospital in the nation distinction.  His clinical interests include adult cardiac valve therapies, aortic surgery and heart failure.  Dr. Olenchock’s outcomes for valve and other cardiac procedures have remained consistently above national benchmarks.  His program's innovation has led to the performance of Transcatheter Valve Therapies.  Dr. Olenchock leads an aortic clinic to manage the most complex of aortic procedures including endovascular therapy.  He has been involved with clinical research including minimally invasive restraint therapies for heart failure.  In addition, his department has expertise in ECMO and VAD therapies.

His patients appreciate him for his dedication to their well-being and his tireless efforts on their behalf.

Dr. Olenchock is driven by quality, outcomes, and continued improvement in the delivery of cardiac surgical care. Dr. Olenchock has contributed to the scientific literature and presented at international meetings including the Annual Meeting of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons.

My recent visit with Dr. Olenchock (and everyone in his office) was an exceptionally good visit. Everyone was "on time" and quite attentive and responsive to all may concerns. Dr. Olenchock was above and beyond all expectations I had "going Into" this appointment. No being very familiar with heart Issues (other than surfing around the Internet-which is always a double-edged sword, I was Immediately relieved when I saw how approachable and understating he was regarding all of my concerns. I left the office realizing I would be In the best of hands with Dr. "O" and his staff. Learning that I needed a Mytral Valve repair (and not being a "science" guy) was quickly and easily quelled with his explanations. It was a very comforting visit.

I had a heart valve replacement on a Tues. I was home on Thurs. That is about the best experience I could hope for. Dr. Olenchock, Dr. Traub, the staff at both offices, and everyone at the hospital were the best.

I am grateful and extremely satisfied with the care that Dr Olenchock and his staff provided. They were wonderful, patient and thorough and made me comfortable and confident throughout the TAVR process. I would highky recommend them to anyone who needs cardiovascular surgery!

We arrived 15 minutes early, as directed, but were unable to gain access to the reeption area initially. 8-10 patients were outside until it was realized by a staff member that it was locked. I was seen on time - staff was friendly and efficient.
